What Hunch is

Hunch predicts how much you'll enjoy a book, based on the taste you tell it about. Predictions are made by AI. They're educated guesses, not facts — Hunch can be wrong about a book, its content, or its age suitability, so use your own judgement too.

Who can use it

You need to be 13 or older, and if you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you're responsible for what happens on your account.

Fair use

Please don't:

• try to break, overload or get around the limits on the service;
• make lots of accounts to get more free predictions;
• scrape or copy the service, or use it to build a competing one;
• upload anything illegal or that isn't yours to share.

There are daily limits on how many predictions an account can make, to keep Hunch free. Accounts that break these rules may be suspended.

Your content

Your library, ratings and taste profile are yours. You let Hunch store and process them only to run the service for you, as described in the privacy policy. You can delete them at any time from Settings.

Book information

Covers and book details come from public sources such as Open Library. They belong to their publishers and authors, and are shown only to help you recognise a book.

Price

Hunch is currently free. If paid features are added, you'll be told the price before you're ever charged, and nothing you already have will be taken away without notice.

No guarantees

Hunch is provided as it is. It's run by one person, so it may sometimes be down, slow, or change. To the extent the law allows, Hunch isn't liable for losses from using it — for example, a book you didn't enjoy. Nothing here limits your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.

Ending it

You can stop using Hunch and delete your account whenever you like. Hunch can close an account that breaks these terms, or shut down the service with reasonable notice.

The legal bit
